Making liquor from grass?

I was reading an article on howstuffworks.com and here is something I copied and pasted right out of the webpage:
“Grass is also used to make sugar, liquor, bread and plastics, among many other things. ”
OK, so after reading that I looked around on the internet trying to find out more on the part about making liquor from grass and haven’t found anything about it. Has anyone ever heard of this?
even if you could it probably wouldnt taste very good
There’s grass and grass. Maize, wheat, oats, and barley are grasses and their seeds are used as feedstock for brewing. Buffalo grass is used to flavor vodka. The grass in your lawn is useless for liquor-making. Sorry.
